Liz Noonan Ceramics

Boxborough, MA

I am a storyteller. My work is a visual narrative of my surroundings and my past.
Using clay I attempt to create the experience of shared stories, magic and nature. My work manifests ephemeral feelings and nostalgia. The fleeting joy of colors that come with short seasons and the yearning we feel for that color once winter has arrived. I am inspired by what I see and try to capture that.

While making each piece I am reminded of the things I love, such as family - eating together, setting a table, collecting table pieces, and traditions. Eating from a plate adorned with flowers reminds us of the beauty right outside our door. Celebrating with loved ones. Using heirloom pieces can create the feeling of being special, and precious. This can evoke strong feelings of nostalgia and longing to be with the ones we love.
My technical study in ceramics allows me to create unique works. I make my pieces by hand on the pottery wheel and configure my much of own glazes and paints. My pottery is painted in the traditional majolica method, but I use mid fire clay for durability and performance. I’m proud of the attention and love I put into everything I make. I hope you love using it as much as I love making it!
