"MIXED MEDIA SCULPTURE | Ethereal, Atmospheric, Lustrous Wall Sculpture"
Nadia, is a contemporary sculptor and painter who is trained in archaeology and fine art. She specializes in large scale wall sculpture and mixed media paintings.
Her art career began while excavating and illustrating a range of artifacts for university and scientific journals, working for Universities and CRM. Her career continued as a stained glass window manufacturer. After moving to Hawaii she studied with several carpentry masters and worked as a furniture repair specialist.
Rather than a literal rendering of a person, place or thing, her art is an interpretation of the energies and feeling of being in the ocean. She includes spiritual or prehistoric themes within each piece: ancient Egyptian Jewelry design, prehistoric rock art, and the scale patterns and colors found on reef fish.
The base of her art is local tropical hardwoods or wood panel. Her pieces often include hand cut mirror glass. Each of her sculptures are hand cut with a jig saw, and ground or sanded to shape. Painted, coated with art resin, illustrated with oil and wax paint, and details in hand cut art foils.
Her sculptures have been permanently installed in luxury condominium lobbies, high end commercial offices, and are in the collection of private clients in the Hawaiian islands and Australia.
An avid beekeeper, dancer, and surfer, she currently lives in Hawaii.
