Hand-crafted ceramic vessel made from tan speckled stoneware with a raw clay exterior surface and lined with a clear inner glaze.

The cracked surface texture was created using sodium silicate, a water-soluble liquid, that is brushed onto the clay surface during the throwing phase. The silicate dries the outermost layer of clay and the vessel continues to be thrown on the wheel and shaped from the inside with one hand, breaking the thin surface layer of clay and creating the mudcrack effect.

This vessel would look lovely paired with a dried floral arrangement and works well as the focal piece on an elegant table or shelf.

Carefully hand-crafted pieces inspired by organic textures and colors of the natural world.

My whole life I have been drawn to all areas of art and design. After 12 years in the graphic design industry, I began seeking out new avenues and mediums to express my creative vision. After taking a few ceramics courses during undergrad I always longed to return to clay. With a background in interior design, architecture, graphic design, and photography, all of my acquired skills play a key role in bringing this creative endeavor to fruition.

Clay is such a fascinating medium, there are no boundaries as to what you can create. When I am alone in my studio working with clay, all the walls come down and this childlike sense of wonder in my brain takes over.

Nature is my inspiration when it comes to my work. As an avid traveler and photographer, I've spent many years seeking out the most incredible landscapes you can find across the world. The beautiful organic colors and textures of earth are what I strive to recreate within my pieces. As I progress in my craft, I will begin using wild clay and pit firing as a way to get even more in touch with the source. I find that when I am actively in touch with nature during my creative process, I feel an overwhelming sense of balance.
