Plum purple and ivory bone inlay round side table with three drawers,
hand-set in camel bone and resin on a brass-finished base. Made to order
in our workshop in Sambhal, Uttar Pradesh, India.

WHICH SIZE SHOULD I CHOOSE?
As a bedside table: the top should sit level with, or just below, the top
of your mattress. Measure floor to mattress top and pick the closest height.
Most standard beds land at 18–20".
As a living room side table: match the height to your sofa or chair arm.
20–24" suits most seating.
The 12" and 14" work in tight corners, beside a reading chair, or in an
entryway. The 18" × 24" is the one to choose if the piece is meant to be
seen — it reads as furniture rather than an accent.

Photograph the packaging and the piece before unpacking further, and

happens rarely, but bone inlay travels a long way and we'd rather tell
you the plan up front than after.
THE PIECE
The pattern is a Moroccan star lattice — overlapping circles that resolve
into four-pointed petals, one of the oldest repeating forms in Islamic
tilework. On a cylinder it does something a flat panel can't: the geometry
wraps continuously with no seam and no corner to break the rhythm, so the
pattern reads as one unbroken surface from any angle.
Three drawers run the full depth of the drum. Each opens on a carved bone
flower knob with a plum centre. The top is a separate radial composition,
bordered in bone dots, so the piece holds up when seen from above — which
is how you'll actually see it most of the time.
The brass plinth lifts the drum off the floor and stops the silhouette
from reading as heavy.
WHERE IT WORKS
Dark, saturated rooms. Deep green, charcoal, oxblood, ink blue walls —
plum and ivory sit against those the way this piece is meant to be seen.
It also holds its own in a pale room as the single point of colour.

MADE BY HAND
Sambhal, in Uttar Pradesh, has worked bone and horn for generations —
it is the craft belt this technique actually comes from, not the one
usually named on listings like this.
Bone is cut into individual slivers on a bandsaw, each piece shaped by
hand, then set one at a time onto the wooden form. Resin is poured around
the set pieces to make the coloured ground. The whole surface is then
sanded flat and polished. A single drum table is roughly three to four
weeks of one artisan's work.
Because every piece is hand-cut, no two are identical. Slight variation
in bone tone, and the faint natural grain and pitting visible in the
close-up photograph, are the marks of real bone rather than a printed
or moulded surface.
CARE
Dust with a dry, soft cloth. Wipe spills immediately. Avoid direct
sunlight for long periods and keep away from radiators — resin and bone
both respond to heat. No chemical cleaners, no abrasives, no water
pooling on the surface.
