Sustainable African Mahogany
1910 Spanish Hardware
Stained glass
The Idyllia door echoes the passing of time through nature. The outside depicts daytime: a rising sun calling the transition of spring to summer, amidst abstract butterfly wings signaling a rebirth and renewal. The inside of the door shows the evening — its moonlight and stars, the falling leaves of autumn to winter. Below, a quail couple at rest, symbolizing love, determination and teamwork.
The window light is paned with true stained glass, anchoring both scenes. Even the door itself pairs the new and old; 1910s hardware with freshly cut African mahogany. As we pass through the door day after day, we too become a part of its history and narrative. A transition through time.
Idyll: noun: a delightful, tranquil rural scene or episode, reminiscent of or suitable for pastoral art or literature
