This artwork is a poetic exploration of the timeless dance between ocean waves and sandy shores. Using traditional macrame knotting techniques, I’ve crafted undulating, navy-blue forms that evoke the power and rhythm of waves crashing onto a beach. These three-dimensional waves cascade seamlessly into a sandy shoreline, woven from raffia paper cords that mimic the delicate texture of the beach floor.

What makes Sand by the Sea truly unique is the intricate process behind it. The raffia cords, typically used in paper crafts, were transformed into a textile through a weaving technique I developed on a handmade loom, created specifically for this piece. This meticulous transformation breathes life into the sandy textures, creating a tactile and visual harmony between the woven waves and the shore.

Through this piece, I aim to capture the serene yet dynamic interplay of land and sea, symbolizing moments of calm amidst life’s ceaseless motion. This artwork invites collectors to experience the essence of nature’s cycles—where the waves endlessly meet the sand, embodying a story of resilience and renewal.

Perfect for spaces that embrace organic beauty and the raw elegance of nature, Sand by the Sea is not just a visual delight but a heartfelt tribute to the natural world.
