"Soft Porcelain” features ± 50 hand made and hand cast Mont Blanc porcelain pieces combined into
a 180 cm long panel.
Each piece has textures of antique hand-embroidered linens as a way of preserving cherished heirlooms.
This artwork was exhibited in Venice, Italy from 1 to 30 September 2024 during Homo Faber: The Journey of Life.
Homo Faber 2024 was a journey through a human life viewed through the lens of craftsmanship.
In immersive exhibitions staged across the magnificent spaces of Fondazione Giorgio Cini, hundreds of handcrafted objects made by talented craftspeople from all over the world.

Meet the Creator
Wescover creator since 2023
Marcello De Simone and Bruce Wayland are the Amsterdam based Italian/American design duo behind Studio DeSimoneWayland.

Since 2010 they have been combining their backgrounds in both studio art and art history to create one of a kind wall art.

Their medium of choice is ceramic plates, at first combined with paintings in their Altered Perspectives series, and later created in stoneware and porcelain by the artists in their atelier in Amsterdam.

The combination of plates with paintings, as well as handmade ceramics and porcelain has developed into a slight obsession with the forms and shapes of antique table services.

This has led to the forms themselves becoming the focus of their latest work which is in unglazed extra white porcelain and coloured stoneware.

All the pieces are handmade by the artists, and coloured in their own custom colours.
Compositions in coloured stoneware or in white porcelain can be created to suit any scale, from domestic to public spaces.

In 2022 Studio DeSimoneWayland were included in the prestigious Homo Faber Guide of the best European artist-makers.
