The toughest of the tough? That would be the Special Ops soldiers. Their missions can be anything from straight-up combat and counterterrorism to rescue ops and humanitarian aid. To even make it through the selection process, they've got to have some serious mental and physical fortitude. And on top of that, they've also got to nail the ASVAB, the military's aptitude test, showing they've got the smarts in areas like science, math, and languages.

My sculpture is honoring these elite soldiers, capturing their brainpower, strength, and commitment. I started working on the clay original late last year as part of a bigger display at a Veterans Park near Eau Claire, Wisconsin, paying tribute to the Global War on Terror. The finished piece is one hefty dude - 350 pounds and standing 6'3" inches tall.

Outdoor bronze sculptures honoring members of the military, historical, athletes and political figures

I'm originally from Davis, California and I spent several years in San Francisco as an art student at the Academy of Art College (now University). During art school, I focused on developing an understanding of the human body through life drawing, painting, sculpture, human anatomy, and composition. I also gained an appreciation for art history and animation. The training and skills I acquired as an art student were instrumental in taking the next step and working as a sculptor's assistant for professionals in California and Colorado before I was able to establish my own working studio.

Since 2008, I've maintained a sculpture studio in the vibrant arts community of Loveland, Colorado. There, I create bronze sculptures that honor "larger than life" subjects - everything from the military and historical figures to athletes and political leaders. I've permanently installed over fifty outdoor bronze monuments throughout the United States.

In 2020, I created an 11-foot wide bronze relief with laser-etched black granite to honor and remember the McPherson Globe Refiners, the first basketball team to win Olympic gold (in Berlin, 1936). This curved relief sculpture is now permanently installed at the McPherson Community Building in Kansas, serving as an important work of art commemorating basketball and Olympic history.

And since the summer of 2024, I've been the proud owner of SculptureDepot.net, one of the country's most popular sculpture supply store. I'm honored to continue offering great products and expert assistance for artists at every level.
