Sunset Motor Court distills a roadside motel into pure geometry - flattened planes of powder blue, sun-bleached yellow, and hot pink. The composition owes a clear debt to David Hockney's California period: that same crisp, shadowless light and architecture reduced to color blocks rather than detail. But there's a rougher, more American vernacular energy underneath - the visual language of a 1960s motor court, all stucco walls, narrow doorways, and empty parking lots baking in late-afternoon sun.
