New work for 2024.

Inspired by the unique patterns in modern architectural masonry, a striking overlay of vertical and horizontal lines that play with subtle changes in texture.

Incorporating a hand curated selection of wool & yarn along side artisan ribbon, each chosen to compliment and bring cohesion through both the use of colour and texture.

A contemporary mix of weaving and fiber wrapping techniques that allow for a sculptured finish, a statement quite different from my previous work. I enjoy the challenge of pushing the boundaries of traditional weaving methods to develop new and exciting art works, each truly one of a kind.

Finished in a bespoke floating natural oak frame, hand crafted to size with the option to display either portrait or landscape (rear hangers attached).

Frame - 45cmW x 55cmH x 4cmD.
Weight - 2kg
Backed in felt with artist tag.

A Certificate of Artist Authenticity is included, signed and dated.

Domestic buyers - Dispatched via art courier with full insurance.

A Modern Tapestry

Inspired by the unique patterns found within modern architecture, Derbyshire based Textile Artist Anita Meades creates striking woven art using traditional weaving techniques.

Carefully curated fibre selections explore the juxtaposition between texture & pattern, embracing the natural beauty of which each possess, bringing a sense of warmth and comfort to formal lines and orderly design.

Anitas's work is a contemporary presentation of an ancient craft, where horizontal and vertical lines are meticulously placed to challenge the traditional flat surface of a woven canvas and instead create an ebb and flow that plays with light and shadow.
Her complexed geometric designs invite the viewer to find new compositions at different viewpoints throughout the day, when the surface subtly changes depending on the direction of natural light.

"for me as an artist the journey of creating each piece is as important as the final product itself. Surrendering to the art form and allowing a design to evolve through every chosen technique, fibre and line placement is truly captivating." - Anita Meades
